5 Years Later - Show results and review

The show was cursed with injuries and people not being able to make it. The gimmick of the night was all the Champions except the Womens would join the winner of Ligero/Hardrock in a European title gauntlet.

Havok vs. Spyda vs. Danny V vs. Matt Myers was fun. The latter three worked a quick, fast paced high flyers match. Spyda looked impressive in his RDW debut. After about 7/8 minutes or so Havok got in the ring and killed all three, eliminating them one by one. Havok's offense was met with huge groans from the crowd as he killed all three. He had a great presence. When he leant over the guy who got eliminated first, ready for the sit down splash on the chest, he waited a moment as the crowd began to plead for him not to sit down on the guy, when he was happy that they were getting angry, he finally sat down on him. Great moment. Havok new RDW Regional Champion.

Martin Kirby defeated Joel Redman. Very good match as you would expect. Redman is just so crisp with everything he does and convincing that he is one of the best in Britain at the moment. Kirby is brilliant at getting the crowd behind him wherever he goes.

Mick Romeo defeated Gilligan Gordon in round 5 by two falls to one under British rules. Crowd was very quiet for this, it was a very heavy casual WWE crowd in attendance with loads of kids in Mysterio masks and WWE t-shirts so i think the WOS concept was lost on them. My first time seeing Gordon, from the star wars theme entrance music and the way he conducts himself during his entrance and in the ring i was very impressed. Romeo did what he could to get the crowd going but i think they could have done with going faster earlier to get the crowd into the match.

The Knights (Saraya and Britney) defeated Babylove. Last two were Britney Knight and Chelsey Love, with Britney winning the Women's Championship. Saraya on the mic and Britney shouting at the fans is like watching the Dudley Boys in ECW almost start riots. They were absolutely brilliant. Very fun match. It was mostly The Knights in control, working over Stacey at the start and then eliminating her. Chelsey then burst in debuting some very impressive new offense including a powerslam and spinning lariat which looked awesome. She showed a lot more power based offense than when she was Bubbles. She eliminated Saraya which i think may be Chelsey Loves first pinfall win over Saraya after a 3 year long RDW rivalry. Britney then got a cheap pin over Bubbles to become Womens champion.

Prince Mohmed Ameen defeated Sam Slam. Sam beat the crap out of the Prince with Ameen getting some offense in here and there. Ameen went over with a low blow and a pedigree. Good match. Would have been brilliant in Skegness during the summer season with a good build to it.

Pryde defeated Ewan Kennedy & Nathan Cruz and Ricky Knight & Zak Zodiac to win the RDW Tag Team Championships. Very fun match. Kennedy and Cruz were great, i hope its not the end of them teaming up. The Knights as always were a pleasure to watch. Pryde were the stars of the match, some great double team offense on display from them.

El Ligero defeated Rick Hardrock by DQ. Great match. All Ligero early on until Hardrock grabbed the mic and offered Ligero a game of cards. So they both sat down in the ring and played 21. Referee was great on the mic calling the numbers. Ligero played the dealer. After three cards, Hardrock said hit me again, so Ligero got up and kicked him in the chest, awesome kick. Funny thing here was that after three cards, Hardrock actually had 21, he's an awful Gambler for asking the dealer to hit him one more time. Some masked dudes ran in and attacked Ligero causing the DQ.

El Ligero won a gauntlet for the RDW European Championship which involved both members of Pryde, Prince Mohmed Ameen and Havok. Crowd was burnt out at this point. Ameen beat both members of Pryde, he beat Sykes after a ref bump and a fireball, crowd didn't react to the fireball like they did in Cleethorpes in the summer. Ligero beat Ammen and then beat Havok with a springboard tornado DDT to win the vacant title. Crowd popped huge for the winning pinfall.

All in all a good show.

Return date to Mexborough is February 6th 2010.
